Katana ZERO includes some really compelling gameplay mechanics. Each track encapsulates the mood of a given area, and when coupled with the rapid action, it’s nothing short of amazing. You can expect a lot of heavy synthwave tracks and other electro goodness that sound like they are straight out of Blade Runner. The game features a fully-original soundtrack with tracks from LudoWic, Bill Kiley, Tunç Çakır, DJ Electrohead and Justin Stander. At the beginning of each area, Zero inserts a cassette into his cassette player and plays music that is specific to each level. The sound design also nails the vibe Katana ZERO is striving towards. The rewind effects that take place at the beginning of each section - as well as when you are killed - feel extremely authentic, perfectly capturing that VCR distortion effect you may recall. This allows certain aspects of the game to have a three-dimensional appearance, with characters and items almost leaping out of the screen. Between the blues, pinks and purples lay a number of other remarkable visual effects, such as realistic lighting that look absolutely stunning. Each area is enveloped in bright neon colors, drawing inspiration from the hit movie Drive’s film poster, according to the game’s developer, Justin Stander. Graphically, Katana ZERO features a dazzling array of high-quality pixel art that sticks to a very specific 80’s-era theme. You’ll need to use all available resources to take down groups of enemies. After you clear an area, you’re shown a replay of the events that just transpired, presented to you as if it were footage from a security camera that captured everything. This is a clever spin on death because throughout the game your character never really dies. Because your character has the ability to see into the future, what you’re actually playing through is all of the failed attempts you’ve made until you can piece together the perfect sequence of events that ends in success. This means instead of actually dying, the game instantly rewinds back to the beginning of that section while informing you that what you did won’t work. The game cleverly has you “planning” your perfect route to eliminate everybody in a given area. The gameplay and story heavily revolve around the concept of time. While this comparison is evident from the beginning, Katana ZERO quickly separates itself by adding in its own elements that make it a unique experience, such as superior mobility options and time manipulation. During my playthrough, I couldn’t help but be reminded of a game like Hotline Miami, which was popularized in part due to the same one-shot kill mechanic and breakneck speed. The sense of urgency coupled with the imminent danger presented by each level lends to exhilarating gameplay. Gameplay in Katana ZERO is blistering fast and features one-shot kills, both for your enemies and yourself. Your therapist never fails to administer your shot of Chronos. As you play through the roughly four-hour campaign, you’ll encounter a number of different areas and enemies, as well as uncover more about your mysterious background. During your periodic appointments with your therapist, you are given assignments to track down and execute dangerous individuals, turning you into a time-manipulating assassin, armed with your katana -or whatever items you come across-to carry out each mission. As the story unfolds, you learn that you are being administered a time-altering drug called Chronos that allows you to see into the future. Katana ZERO tells the tale of a young soldier named Zero who has suffered injuries after serving in an important war only seven years prior. What may appear on the surface to be a retro-inspired side-scrolling brawler from games of yesteryear is actually a narrative-driven experience exploring posttraumatic stress disorder, loss, and time manipulation -thanks to a mysterious drug called Chronos. Katana ZERO is mind-bending thriller cleverly disguised as an action game.

The engine now uses less memory when run on Windows / Mac OS.exe Apps no longer store their variables in the "CopperCubeApp" folder in the registry, but in a folder named after the application name. The editor now uses some bigger default window sizes when run on bigger screens. Also, this will reduce the 'stuttering' which some people noticed on faster Android devices. The default Android update mode is now 'every frame' instead of 'when scene changed', resulting in a more smooth gameplay.Other, smaller new features and bug fixes: You can also save textures directly in the editor by right-clicking the texture and choosing "save as.". This is for example useful when using the built-in 3d model texture packer, and you want to export the model or texture. You can now save textures to disk using the new scripting function ccbSaveTexture().C++ code (windows.exe / mac os x): Floating point render to texture formats are now supported. The editor will now detect missing installed DirectX runtimes and provide a download link to install them.Additionally, CopperCube is now also compatible with Android Studio. Background: Google moved the zipalign tool location in newer SDKs to another location. It stands for " Multiplication, and Division, Addition and Subtraction" Operator Associativity For GEMDAS, "grouping" is like parentheses or brackets. In these acronyms, "brackets" are the same as parentheses, and "order" is the same as exponents. You may also see BEDMAS, BODMAS, and GEMDAS as order of operations acronyms. PEMDAS stands for " Parentheses, Exponents, The acronyms for order of operations mean you should solve equations in this order always working left to right in your equation. For example, 5 - 3 + 2 = 4 and 5 - 3 + 2 does not equal 0.Ī way to remember this could be to write PEMDAS as PE(MD)(AS) or BEDMAS as BE(DM)(AS). The same confusion can also happen with "AS" however, addition and subtraction also have the same precedence and are performed during the same step from left to right. For example, 4/2*2 = 4 and 4/2*2 does not equal 1. In other words, multiplication and division are performed during the same step from left to right. However, multiplication and division have the same precedence. The order "MD" (DM in BEDMAS) is sometimes confused to mean that Multiplication happens before Division (or vice versa). Addition and Subtraction are performed as they occur in the equation, from left to right. Multiplication and Division are performed as they occur in the equation, from left to right.Īddition DOES NOT always get performed before Subtraction. Multiplication DOES NOT always get performed before Division.

In addition to those common themes, Archie Fairhurst has copied from his artistic role-mode his composition method as well – his music reminds one of a collage full of samples of jazz, blues, or disc, but infused with current club trends. It was he who, in the second-half of the twentieth century, connected abstract art with the struggle for the civil rights of racial minorities. He is, after all, a student of Afro-American visual culture, and borrows his pseudonym Romare from African-American painter and collagist, Romare Bearden. Bwana - Capsule's Pride (Bikes) ( unofficial video) - YouTube 0:00 / 6:19 Video unavailable This video contains content from UniversumFilm. Bwana's new album, Capsule's Pride, is out March 25. “With its rain on concrete ambience soaking through the traditional Japanese instrumentation and glimmering synth lines, Bwana’s created an album that is both startingly fresh whilst having a timelessness that slots in nicely with the original films grim view of a future unknown. If however, despite our glowing endorsement, you’re still thinking – ‘I’d rather just check the latest ‘UNILAD’ post’, then we would earnestly encourage you to resist watching the dog on a skateboard who thinks he’s a Panda and instead take a quick read of ’s seductively visual review below… Well 6 months on from its original release Bwana’s ‘The Capsule’s Pride’ is back in the spotlight once again, with an eagerly craved and much deserved vinyl repress, a repress that had us scrambling for our credit card within moments of learning the news. And it was with this freedom from constraint that we discovered, as FACT Mag succinctly stated “one of the most straight up enjoyable albums of club music for ages”. Which in all honesty is the ideal method in which to approach all new music discoveries – free from preconceived notions and opinions. In March of this year Bwana emphatically established himself as a producer of considerable value when he unleashed his 9 track rework of the soundtrack, to what is apparently an iconic 1988 Anime film, going by the name of ‘Akira’.Īdmittedly at BBB we know very little about the Anime genre, and therefore its alleged iconic status had little to no bearing on our opinion of the record. There have been many a time I’ve felt a little uneasy about a transaction on CL, as I’m sure most of us have at one time or another. Thank you all so much for your input both here and on FB on our fencing plans. Fortunately, on the forums, I came across a member who had done some extensive modification to his own Animated Arcee to make her more G1-like, including giving her a new head and a pair of custom guns. Her original head can be seen to the left (thanks to a pic swiped from TFU.info ) and looks completely out of place if trying to p ut this figure into a G1-inspired Classics collection. I mentioned that Transformers Animated had a distinctive art style, and one of the places where this was most apparent was the distinctive head and face designs that characters in that continuity sported. Onto robot mode we go! And here we see a big difference from how Animated Arcee normally looks. Obviously, Arcee wants to see where she's come from! More on that head when we get to robot mode.) It is a bit amu sing, however, since when looking at her back end you can see her actual rather poorly hidden hands! (You can also, even more amusingly, see her head quite c learly. I am sure this is faithful to her Animated model, and fortunately i t doesn't stick out too much. There seems to be a bit of fake robot kibbl e visible, as you can see what looks like her hands sticking ou t on her front end. (The silver Sharpie covers up the yellow very well to the naked eye, but the yellow bleeds through a bit in photographs.)įinally, there is a Reprolabel on her cockpit giving her a faction symbol, placed over the painted-on faction symbol that was just a white outline over the clear plastic. The yellow I am sure was faithful to Animated Arcee, but looked a bit out of place when trying to use her as a representation o f G1 Arcee. I colored the otherwise unpainted nubs that the spoiler pieces attached to, and I also covered up some yellow paint on the front end. In addition to the removed spoiler, there is some silver Sharpie work. I was one of them! So shall we see how she looks? Even Transformers fans w ho were not specifically into Animated were happy to see her release, as desperate as they were for an Arcee that would even vaguely resemble her G1 self. Pity.īut no! Toys " Я " Us to the rescue! In 2010, as an exclusive to that retailer, a few otherwise canceled Animated to ys that fans were eager to have were able to see the light of day, and one of those was Arcee. Transformers Animated eventually included the character of Arcee, and she had an alt mode not en tirely unlike the G1 version of Arcee! Hey, think we' ll get a toy of her? May be! Oh, but it looks like she is going to suffer the fate of many toys that are supposed t o come out towards the end of a toy line, and I guess we won't see her after all. Although featuring a rather distinctive art style, many of the characters had modes that payed homage to the classic G1 characters as seen through the prism of this art style. I can't say I was into it myself, but it was apparently quite well receive d. In 2008 there was a new Transformers cartoon called Tra nsformers Animated. (It was a repaint of a character named Blackarachnia.) She also got a representation in the Binaltech line, again as a repaint of a very obviously not-Arcee toy.īut anyone wanting a decent representation of her G1 character, tough luck! She did eventually get a few token toys, such as a con vention exclusive that had her for some strange reason turning into a spider. Thus did the fandom suffer a drought of Arcee toys. And when you do, they're often shortpacked. Especially one who transformed into a p ink car! It is common toy wisdom, alas, as in most any toy line aimed at boys, even these days you can be lucky to get toys of the female characters. I suppose Hasbro, in their infinite (lack of) wisdom, just figured boys wouldn't want to buy a girl character. Yet she never got a toy! She almost got one multiple times, but these efforts never made it past the prototype phase. Arcee was a very prominent character in the 1986 Transformers film and the seasons of the television series that followed. There is a interesting variety of case goods in the collection, from the elegant gold gilt Edgewood Console Table The finishes on her pieces are all pitch perfect as is the matte stain brass on the base. I’m sure many of you will recognize this fabulous drinks-laden table from Aerin’s apartment, as shown here in APT with LSD on. For those of you who were not at High Point, I must add the AERIN space within EJ Victor is simply stunning, an amazing series of rooms that accurately mimics the proportions and feel of Aerin’s gracious Manhattan abode, down to the doors and hardware. If you have ever seen any of Aerin Lauder’s homes, you will already have a feel for the collection. Effortless style is the AERIN tagline and within her ever expanding lifestyle brand, the theme remains consistent.
